As stated in our soccer-ball poll, we are conducting a number of surveys from various sporting fields to determine who the most worthy nominees are to enter SC1 Sports’ Personality of the Year grand final.
Selecting just 5 GAA personalities, Stephen had to unfortunately be omitted – despite his best efforts:
Stephen Cleary Raising His Game
It also broke my heart to turn a blind eye to Kerry’s Colm Cooper whose legend will continue to grow until the day will come when kids will question whether he was real or just another Irish myth.
Michael Fennelly, hurler of the year, was completely ignored because there was no way I was going to exclude Tommy Walsh after picking up an outrageous ninth consecutive All-Star.
If I could include an outfit in the selection, it would be easier to choose Crossmaglen as a one-piece rather than try to dismantle such an harmonious unit. And if could be completely biased, I would yet again be singing the chorus of Enda Muldoon from the rooftops (I assume there’s a song?).
As it is, the following 5 seemed most deserving to be mentioned. Don’t hesitate to suggest your own motions. Remember, only one can progress…

Its hard look past michael Murphy. Had a great year leading Donegal to their first Ulster title in 19 yrs and to an all-ireland semi-final. Was always there to lead the team when things looked bad and played very important roles in every match. Also worked wonders for his club this year. IMO he was robbed of an all-star this year. Also done extremely well in the International rules. Also a lovely man off the pitch, so he gets my vote

I voted for Colm McFadden. It was a sympathy vote really :/ Hes probably Donegals 2nd best player, bar michael murphy. His hair deserves th vote though
-
Michael Murphy has been outstanding all year
-
“lauren” are you serious ? If someone gets a vote for hairstyles, i’d go for our own Eamon mcGee… lovely curls
-
And could I add to m above comment^
Eamon is also th best half back in ulster. A worth winner of this -
I am not able to believe my eyes reading some of the comments. Murphy to win this? Wow I must have been watching a different championship and league, yes league! Cluxton by far the most deserved, followed by Tommy Walsh. I would even have Darren o Sullivan in there way ahead of Murphy. Given I am from Cork that speaks volumes!

Have to strongly disagree Conor!
As one of his biggest critics in the past, he continuously went about proving me wrong in 2011 and his two best games came in Donegal’s 2 biggest matches of the last two decades against provincial final and All-Ireland Quarters.
I do think that the Dublin men listed are all more deserving but it’s not up to me!
-
Michael Murphy for sure.. No better man/player.! He played outstanding for both club and county! Deserves it most
-
AND country!
Unfortunately, he just missed out by one vote! Tough category
-
Aw damn it, though murphy would win
Ah well hes still me Personality of the year

Had to go with Mr Gilroy. Set Dublin up in a way which still made them a delight to watch – but also in a way which made them winners.
